AHiL's TARDIS PSD by JesseLax AHiL's TARDIS PSD by JesseLax
I created my first TARDIS in photoshop in early 2009, only to have to create a new one for the regeneration to the 2010 series. Am finally delivering on my promise to release the full PSD to everyone!

RULES:
You're welcome to use this for any project, be they personal or commercial (however, you should know that commercial use of a "TARDIS" infringes the rights of the BBC, as it's their legal copyright and trademark.)

I ask only that you do not under any circumstances repackage and/or sell this .PSD file for your own personal gain. It's meant to be free! Take a peek at the Creative Commons license.

Some help for everyone before downloading this PSD:

1) This PSD is large-res and thus a very big download (17.9mb file size, 102.2 MB in Photoshop).
2) A read me Layer is included. Please read it before deleting!
3) This PSD has a massive amount of (labeled) Grouped and Single layers. If you're a PS beginner this might be confusing to you.
4) This PSD has custom Layer Styles on almost every layer. If you're a PS beginner this might be confusing to you.
5) If you want to edit the top signage you'll need the font "Gill Sans MT" installed. I cannot supply this to you.
6) I have included a folder group that contains the entire TARDIS seen in the preview above, already merged for quick access.
7) Enjoy!

Click the small Eye icon on the Read me layer to turn it off.
To learn how to further use layers in Photoshop, I strongly encourage you to find some tutorials online. Photoshop is an extremely powerful tool and requires time to learn and understand. :)

OK, so I'm being really stupid.  This looks amazing, so I thought I'd download it, but all I seem to get in an instruction sheet (from the link on the upper right of this page).  What am I doing wrong?  Any help would be appreciated.

I wanna see if I can mess with the Hue/Saturation of the PSD to make the RTD-era TARDIS... Nice work setting up the options!

Ah! that shouldn't be too tough. I rebuilt this one from exactly the one you're looking to create. Never released it because it didn't seem fitting with Smith at the helm, but now that the 50th has passed maybe I should reconsider that?
Anyhoo, have fun with it. Wish you all the best!

Wow, that looks amazing!

Would it be possible to get a few shots of your model from various angles to use in some future projects of mine?

already made a few renders, I want to make a space background before posting

what angles would you like most anyway?

ooh, sweet!

If it's not too much trouble... a Front, a side, and an angle from the top (looking down on it) with the front somewhat in view would be killer.

Your a rockstar for even considering it. Thanks so much!

Hey, thanks so much!

I did invest quite a bit of time in it. A few days labor, as I recall. More time went into the 2005 version (unreleased) I'd originally created, of which this 2010 box was modified from. I used a little creative license in the scales and angles of some of the shapes only to save me some time.

Ultimately though, I'm only glad it's coming in handy for people! I searched the internet pretty extensively for a TARDIS PSD that was fully editable before my release. So far as I know this is the only one with any merit to quality. Admittedly, it makes for a hell of a lot of layers, but it was the only way I could think of to give you ultimate control over the look of it.

Do hope you enjoy, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to write. :)

PS
I'm a total Who geek---any chance of getting a sneek a peek at your project? Won't judge or critique, just wild curiosity. :P

You should see a download link in the lower left hand corner of the full-size preview. :)
It should be compatible with CS3. Have fun!

I've opened this in GIMP, rather than Photoshop so I'm hoping it's a layer effect The GIMP can't see, but I can't see to find the seperate blue wood layer. Once I hide the two finished and merged layers, I have a TARDIS that's black with no wooden textures. I want to recreate the textures of the TARDIS doors from the other side (inside) but without that, it's impossible.

Is it a GIMP problem or is it missing those layers?

I'm a hardcore Photoshop user... I've only peeked a GIMP a couple of times---have never actually used the program to create anything. I can only assume the files aren't compatible. Terribly sorry about that!
